I am a teacher. How much notice must I give if I want to cease employment?

questions

I am a teacher. How much notice must I give if I want to cease employment?

questions

8 weeks notice

answers

You must give at least 8 weeks notice. However two of these weeks may be in holiday time. This means you can give eight weeks notice either 2 weeks prior to commencing a term and leave 6 weeks after school has started or give notice 6 weeks prior to the end of term and effectively leave at the end of term (you will be paid some proportion of annual leave depending on how many days you have worked.) Alternatively you may cease work having given a full 8 working weeks notice.
