answers

Principals and senior staff are responsible for the management of schools. As such it is their responsibility to locate relief staff to replace those who are sick and absent.
We have been made aware of schools requesting sick teachers to provide lesson plans to cover their absences.
This practice is not fair and places undue pressure on the sick employee, who in many cases may not be well enough to undertake this exercise.
It should be remembered that a relief teacher's pay is calculated on the basis that he/she will complete planning, preparation and marking.
As this is the case schools cannot demand that teachers who are ill provide planned work or mark work taught by a relief teacher.
