Advertising Vacant Positions have to be advertised?

questions

Yes

answers

Yes.
In June 2004 the new Catholic Education Award came into place. In the Award, Part II, Clauses 1(a) and 2(a) it is written "An employer shall advertise any vacant position throughout all Tasmanian Catholic Schools and the Tasmanian Catholic Education Office."
This was agreed to by the union and all the schools in good faith and this clause must be followed.

What is a vacant position?
This is a position that is a newly created position or becomes available due to an employee resigning, retiring or going on leave. Leave includes sick leave, long service leave, maternity leave, parental leave, leave without pay or any other leave.
Members and reps are asked to contact the TCEEA office if there seems to be confusion about this at their school - sometimes there just needs to be a reminder that this clause is in our Award and must be followed.
