Become a member of the Committee of Management

SUPPORT PROTECT IMPROVE

the working life of your colleagues

The Committee of Management is the face of your union; becoming a member of the COM gives you an opportunity to have an input into the vision, direction and priorities of your union.

Becoming a member of the Committee of Management gives you the opportunity to develop your skills in:

  • Problem solving
  • Communication
  • Financial and operational management
  • Negotiation
  • Strategic planning
  • Meeting processes
  • Legal processes

Committee of Management members are elected for a term of three years and have the following responsibilities:

  • Participation in a monthly meeting by Teleconference from 5 p.m. - 6.30 p.m. one week night.
  • Reading all papers prior to the meeting.
  • Attending a Planning Day in late January and a Training Day on one other day during the year.
  • Participation in a TCEEA sub committee that interests you; choose from the Education Committee; the Women's Committee; Library Staff Committee; Industrial Committee or Publications Committee.

Incoming Committee of Management members will have support through an induction and training process.
